I am in shock. I love Google Chrome for its speed and user-friendliness in general. When it offered me to store my passwords, it did not tell me a few things about how secure they would be. It turns out they are visible to anyone who has access to my machine. Meaning I have to set my screen saver password (which is really not convenient on a home/family computer), or *not* store passwords in Chrome.
Please star the issue! http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1397

Just an update: this is still in Beta, as I still haven't figured out how to use the same navigation bar as the rest of the site. Wordpress.com limits the themes you can use. If you have hints on how to solve this, shoot me an email!

Just wanted to comment on my own post (!) to mention that I am happy with the result, with the notable exception of... the high variance in WordPress's technical support response time.

Thanks for the comments. Framasoft.net is definitely worth mentioning, though it is only in French and contains about 10 times less projects than ohloh.net.

Hi,

very interesting site!
I was looking for 3D Modeling/Rendering software (to include 3D animations in PowerPoint slides), and I can see that the offer is dense.

A++
--
Lionel.MARTINEZ@bea.com

There is no easy way of automatically verifying the text of an anchor is relevent to the HREF, i.e., having a misleading URL such asl Andrew's blog would not be caught.

This problem arises from email programs adopting HTML as a valid message format. Any email program that does this is susceptable. Fixes could be:
1. provide email programs so you can't open a URL from with a message as a default. (Which is what Andrew mentions above for Outlook 2003)
2. do not allow HTML to be used as a message format.

Thank you Andrew for this very relevant comment. Microsoft has indeed attempted to address the issue. However it did not do the trick for me, and it does not solve the problem for the most vulnerable IRVs out there- those who don't know what a Service Pack is, how they find out about one and download it, and most importantly the vast number of web mail users! You know what? I have so much more to say on this that I'll write another post on exactly the same subject. Hold the line!

Although perhaps not as foolproof as you would want it to be, Microsoft does offer the disabling of URLs in what Outlook 2003 deems to be phishing messages:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA011841931033.aspx

Sure it's a SP download away, but it does do the trick – but appears to be available only for 2003. Poor Express and 2000 users… But I suppose if you’re an IRV, you might very likely have the most recent version of the software…
